This is a thread where you can discuss anything from this record, including tracks, artwork, production, and the line-up. Anything.

I actually like Gene Adams version. Which is suprising for me. The production works well on this record, and sounds mad good for being a debut album.

My favorite is When The Night Falls. I love those epic and lengthy songs.
By the way: Which version of the record do you prefer? The original release or the remastered version? I prefer the original release, because it sounds much better in my oppinion.

I need to hunt down the original, so I can see the difference.

But yea Gene may not have been as talented as the later vocalists but he slayed on that album. I get a chuck billy vibe from him.

finally got the original used. I gotta say the century media re-master is feces in comparison.

Someday I may bother to edit Barlow's version with Jon Shaffer's lines from the original. "Can't you see this barren land, laid to waste, ravaged scorched and frozen, from you neglect....."
The effects on it is so much cooler.

What, I didn't give my two cents yet?  Shocked

Iced Earth is a very good album, and quite underrated imo. Ok, the vocals are average at best, but else? The guitar work is pleasing, the songs have a freezy atmosphere and the songs Written on the Walls, the title track and When The Night Falls are just brilliant.
