Albums salesWhen you buy an album online or from the shops who doesthe money go to? Does it still go to the band/management or to an old album label?

If it's a used album not a penny goes to the band or label or anyone involved with the music. 100% goes to whoever is selling the used cd. If it's an unopened out of print cd, more than likely it goes to whoever is selling it and not the band or whoever. The only ones that go to the band or label or whatever are new not used albums and tracks sold by places like Itunes and Rhapsody and yes even Napster (since they are now and have been for several years a legal music retailer).

Oh, I'm wondering if the band have been written out of loyalties for earlier albums as I think they've been re-released more than once.

Yes the first three albums have been re released I think 3 times now. I am not to sure about them being written out of royalties though. I do know that the last re release (Slave To The Dark Box Set) was not endorsed by Schaffer, but I am not sure if they still get royalties or not. I know some bands and artists lose all royalties due to certain factors here and there. I can't think of any band or artist right now that has happened to but I know it has happened. Like I said I am not sure if IE lost royalties or not.

Doesn't it depends on the contract?
Maybe Iced Earth lost their loyalties due to bad contract planning.
Jon always says that Century Media sucks, it could be that the contract didn't cover post-Century Media time.

That's possible, I mean the box set retailed for over $100, so if they were getting royalties, maybe (I don't think Jon is like that though) he would have not not endorsed it ya know. By not endorsing it and basically telling your fans not to buy it, you'd lose money. But since I don't think Jon is greedy, it probably didn't matter to him. And it may also not be a royalty type release. I just don't know.
