Bought album thread

I thought I would start a thread on Albums members have bought recently and what they think of them, doesn't matter who, just as long as you bought it recently. ^__^

Today I bought  Flotsam and Jetsam's newest release, [i]Once In a Deathtime[i]. It's a great CD from what I've heard so far, the only problem is that nowhere is it written "This is a live CD." It is very produced, I couldn't even tell it was live until I heard the clapping at the end of the first track. So I put it somewhere between a Best of Collection  and a live CD. It does include a bonus DVD, which I haven't checked out yet. But I think it's the CD tracks with video footage and other bonus goodies.

Overall for the 14 I shelled out for it, it was probably worth it. If it had not a  bonus DVD I probably would have bought that Motorhead CD instead though.
Kanadwen

I recently bought Once by Nightwish (gave my old one away to my ex), and At Sixes And Sevens by Sirenia.
Set Abominae

I was thinking about doing this; you beat me to it Messiah! Wink

Anyway, in the past six months, I've bought the following albums:

METALLIC ATTACK - The Ultimate Metallica Tribute
I have a thing about buying Metallica tributes....the bluegrass tributes were awesome! But this CD boasts artists like Motorhead doing "Whiplash", Death Angel performing "Trapped Under Ice", and Eric Singer [KISS] drumming for "Holier Than Thou". Overall, I give the album an 8/10; there are a few tracks that need to be trashed.

DISTURBED - Indestructible
One of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Not a single bad track on the album. 10/10

ICED EARTH - I Walk Among You
A fairly good EP; I Walk Alone is kind of bland, though. But you guys already knew that. Smile 8/10

JUDAS PRIEST - Nostradamus
Am I the only one that thought this album was kickass? 9/10

APOCALYPTICA - Worlds Collide
One of the best bands in existence today. Never would I have thought that cellos and metal would mix so awesomely! 9/10

SUICIDE SILENCE - The Cleansing
For metalcore, it's not that bad. 7/10
3DD13

Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulences - DREAM THEATER

So, I bought this double-CD yesterday and it's very good. I didn't know DT a lot, but they are just amazing ! I know that a lot of people dislike James LaBrie's voice, but I think he's very good !

The Number Of The Beast - IRON MAIDEN

Just a single to complete my collection ...

Gothic Live - THERION

They record this live in Warsaw, there is a huge set-list but I think some of the songs aren't useful. But the drum solo is interessant ! This a double-CD and 1 DVD pack. It's not to expensive ...
Stormrider

KISS "Destroyer" Remaster - Of course it's a KISS album my third FAV BAND EVER after Iced Earth (#2) and Cradle Of Filth (#1), it was on sale for $6 at Wal Mart so I had to get it. 10/10 (because it is one of their best albums ever)

Judas Priest "Nostradamus" - No, Set you are not the only one who thinks this kicks ass. Though I bought it solely for the free ticket code but of course when I went online to turn in the code all the free tickets for Dallas (the only place I can go, don't have the money to go to any other venue) were sold out. I didn't have the $25 bucks needed to BUY the cheapest ticket on the site (and still don't right now). But I was surprised at how awesome I thought this album is! 10/10

Iced Earth "I Walk Among You" (Both the physical cd and the Itunes bonus track) - I agree with every one else on this. 8/10

Iced Earth "Slave To The Dark - The Century Media Years Box Set" - While not endorsed by Jon, it is one of the BEST packaged box sets ever! From the artworks, to the mini lp style discs. The dissapointing thing about this set is that they didn't include the original versions of the first three albums, they are the remastered ones from the Dark Genesis set from 2001. Though Stormrider has a bonus track not on the original remaster from 2001 and Burnt Offerings has a second cd of a "rough" mix of the entire album, so that makes them slightly different. 10/10 for the way it was put together (art and such) and 8/10 for content.

I would add the three Zebra albums I got but I got them from illegal download sites, so I didn't pay for them.
TheVileMessiah

I tried to get the original Stormrider disc today, but the reissue came in and not the original. I felt like an asshole telling them that I would have that version later when I bought Dark Genesis. >__<

But I did order Symbolic [Remaster] by Death, because it has so many bonus tracks and I need a few new albums to keep me entertained at the beach.

Personally, not a fan of the Nostradamus album, I took about three tracks and put into my iPod, the rest just bored me.
Tainted Innocence

Recently bought:

Catamenia - ChaosBorn

Catamenia - Location: Cold

Hans Zimmer & James Newton - The Dark Knight (soundtrack)
Sentinel

My latest bought albums:

Scanner - Terminal Earth (vinyl)

Among the best power metal albums ever released. Have searched for it for a long time and just found it. This is basically old-school power metal which sounds alot like Heavens Gate and early-Helloween, with alot of great riffs, a very good singer and songs like "Touch the Light", "Terminal Earth" and "From the Dust of Ages" this is nothing less than a winner!
The only complaintment I have is that the vinyl version only have 8 tracks while the cd version has 10 songs, which means I have to someday buy the cd version... 9+/10

Dungeon - Ressurection

Great album by one of my favourite power metal bands. Not my favourite of them but still contains some of their best songs (I Am Death, The Legend of Huma). And I got it for only 3,99€ so it was a real bargain! 8/10

For me, all hope is gone for years with this " "band" " ... I read an article in a newspaper last week. It was talking about the metal who's still alive ('cause of the AC/DC, Metallica and Slipknot's new record). This silly guys who wear masks because they are too ugly to show their fuckin' face dared to say : "I think metal is the last kind of music where someone must be good musician to play in" WTF ??? Are they good musician ? Can we call this stuff "METAL" ??? And fuck ! There are lots of kind of music that require high skills.

Gamma Ray - Alive '95
Feaněs

well at first dude, I don't want to defent slipknot, cause they really dissapointed me with the last album, I don't like it....I really don't.
BUT they ARE good, very good musicians, they have very high skills and if you don't like them, okay, if you think their music is shit, okay, but if you tell me, that joey jordison is a bad drummer, or corey tailor is a bad singer, well than you should first LISTEN, and than open your mouthm cause its like the whole Metallica shit: No one likes lars ulrich, no one likes metallica with short hair, and that for their music has to be shit...
okay, so they said that metal is the last kind of bla bla, and I'm with you saying this is bullshit, when ya think of jazz and classic, but please guy, do me a favour:

If you have a personal problem with someone, say it, but don't say that they are bad musicians just cause you don't like them, I know you are smarter than that...

Their music is shit. They are posers and mainstreamers.
But that's not why i hate them. (Many bands are mainstream these days)

I hate them because they (and their fans) consider themselves to be metal.
Call it dance music, rap or what the fuck you want as long as you don't call it metal!
And. nu-"metal" is for kids.

IMO.

I totally agree with you 'bout the Joey Jordisson' skills. And for Metallica, I only listen to the four first albums (Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets and ... And Justice For All), 'cause the rest ain't Thrash Metal : that's FM Metal made just to be sold (it's what I think, but there's 2 or 3 song that are good : Fuel per example Very Happy)
You say that I am smarter than what ? I have less skill than 'em ? Surely Very Happy but I play Heavy Metal Very HappyVery Happy
Feaněs

I haven't said you have less skill than those guys, how could I, I don't know ya skills on your instrument and I surely didn't mean any offence. Just wanted to say, that you are smarter than getting personal and childisch, cause you know that is for nothing.
okay you all in this forum don't like slipknot, well anyway lets keep it with that, maybe I should open a own "we all hate slipknot" thread. Anyway this is off topic, and I'm gettin' tired of this.

All I can say, is that I like Slipknot for their last three albums, and not for the new one, and I don't like them cause of their fuckin' mask or cause they are so ugly, or because of theri personality, but of their music. And I for my self think, that slipknot makes good music, don't mean the last album. And I will enjoy seeing them live, if you like it or not. I would have at least expected

And for good and for all, I AM NO KID DUDE, and if you like to say, that "Nu" or what ever is for kids, well so be it, I'm far away of that. I listen to heavy shit since many years and I know good metal stuff, so I take the "nu" is for kids a LITTLE personal.....
Anyway, I don't even know what this "NU" shit is, what does that term mean? Can anyone explain.
Cause I don't like wasting my time in putting every band in some category, I'm just listening to music, if I like it, I do, if not, than I don't. I don't care about some fuckin' categories, that you shouldn't listen, cause you are no "true" heavy metal fan anymore if you do.

And with that, this shit has to end, cause it is far away from the real topic and it really leads to no point. I promise will never write anything Slipknot concerning in this forum again.
3DD13
