Grave Digger

Anyone like the German heavy metal band Grave Digger? They'd be my favorite if Iced Earth wasn't around.

I suppose this is a thread where we can discuss about the band.

You should listen to their earlier stuff, I think it's better. Wink
Icedbiker1776

I have known Grave Digger for a few years now and seen them live several times. They are really good, but I have to agree with The Sexiest Metalhead. Their earlier stuff is way better imo.
WinterSolstice

Catchy material. They should come the US. There are a lot of GraveDigger fans here.
Aggelos Poneros

I like Heavy Metal Breakdown and The Reaper...

They were in Croatia, but I didn't go... Sad(
NightCrawler

Very great band.

Haven't heard their new album completely, but what I've listened to sounded good.
The Sexiest Metalhead

The new album is great, thier best album sience Excalibur. I love it. Two songs on it are a little blah, but that's about it. You must get it.
Aggelos Poneros

I like the new video^^
The Sexiest Metalhead

I can't get enough of the new album.
NightCrawler

Their new album is good, of course not as good as Rheingold or The Reaper, but it is much better than Liberty Or Death.
The only weak song on Hangman is imo Lonely the Innocence dies.

Grave Digger are great, liked them for a while - especially Rheingold, Knights Of The Cross and The Grave Digger. I haven't seen them live yet, but I've heard good things.
NightCrawler

Ok, after almost a half of a year of listening I would say that Ballads Of A Hangman is one of their best works ever done.

I hate doubleposting but:

2009-10-08 MANNI SCHMIDT LEFT GRAVE DIGGER

Hello GRAVE DIGGER Fans,

we have to make an announcement that most of you probably never expected.
A band like GRAVE DIGGER has to develop constantly. The problem is that this is only possible if the musicians have the same goal and the same attitude.
And they have to feel good with what they are doing.
If you have some permanent stress in the band, there is no more productive work possible and in the long run the music suffers from this situation.
Unfortunately there were so many disagreements recently building up between Manni and Chris, that this would affect the productivity and creativity in a bad way.
Because of all this Manni decided to leave GRAVE DIGGER.
This happened by mutual consent . We wish Manni all the best for the future and say thank you for many nice and eventful years.
But we also have some good news:
There is no effect on the concerts that are already booked.
The last word about the replacement guitar player is not spoken yet.
"We first want to wait for the results of the rehearsals. After this we will introduce you to the replacement guitarist. We already spoke to a possible candidate and we will start the rehearsals in the next days."

Yep..well that sucks. Hope they find a replacement soon, I NEED to see this band live!
The Sexiest Metalhead

To be honest, I'm kinda happy about this. I was so pissed when I heard they gaveup on the whole Thilo Hermann experience. And Manni Schmidt was never really anything special anyway, I know for sure they can find someone better.

Excalibur is all I have by them, but it's one of the best power metal albums I've ever heard period. Perfect sound mixing, songs are written well, and I love the overall theme.

Yeah, the new record is pretty good. Got some excellent tracks.
