Has anyone else noticed?The similarity between the artwork of Burnt Offerings Reissue from 2001....
and Mercyful Fate's Don't Break The Oath from forever ago?
Not that similar but close, I think.

Both have fire (obviously) and both have a demon coming out of the fire, like Dante said, similar concepts. IE's cover just shows more of the demon rather than just a head and outreached hand. But I still think they are similar, not necessarily in actual artwork, but as with Dante I think the concepts are virtually identical.

One has a demon engulfed in flames, bursting through rock, and holding a man, while the other has a skullish demon engulfed in flames pointing at a potential oath breaker. Not that similar really.

Just think of the IE demon pointing and not holding a man and the MF demon coming out of rock, so still very similar. I don't see or understand how anyone can not see the similarities as they are so blatantly obvious (the similarities that is, not trying to say IE was trying to plagiarize MF's artwork or anything). True they are different artworks but even so still very similar. But oh well.

I agree with Stormrider; I believe the artworks are similar. Don't you guys know what similar means? It doesn't mean "the same".

OK, so we have two demons in fire. While similar, it's not as big a deal as say these two album covers:
Symphony X - V
Spock's Beard - V
They even share the same album title...
... But this is an Iced Earth Forum.

Maybe as a tribute to Iron Maiden who as we all know is one of Jons biggest influences. Oh and it's not that I "care" about these things, I don't. I just see similarities and wonder if others do or don't. Doesn't actually bother me that these artworks are similar weather intentional or not.
