ICED EARTH INTRODUCE NEW BASS PLAYERFreddie Vidales from Phoenix, Arizona has been selected to pound the pavement (and a few eardrums) on the road with Iced Earth in 2008 as the band's new bass player. Prior to joining ICED EARTH, Freddie was the bassist and frontman for 10 years in his own band called, INFUSION. Freddie has been influenced by bands such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Death, King Diamond, and of course, ICED EARTH. You can hear and see Freddie covering tracks from a few of the bands above not only on bass, but also guitar at his personal MySpace page. You can also find Freddie jamming on YouTube.
Says Jon Schaffer, "I feel like Freddie is the right guy for the gig, he has the chops, the attitude, and from the videos I've seen, a commanding, energetic, and intense stage presence that will fit in nicely with what Iced Earth has always strived to be. I had a strong feeling about him based on the material that he sent and our phone discussions, so I asked him to fly up here before the slated auditions were to commence later in the month. After meeting Freddie in person and watching him play up close and personal, I didn't feel the need to continue the search. He's going to fit right in. We welcome him on board and look forward to jamming together at our first gig at Chicago Powerfest on May 2!
Finally, I would like to personally thank everyone who auditioned for the position, and I wish you the best in your future endeavors!"

Let's hope he lasts for more than a month. Knowing this band, they'll need a replacement soon.

I wonder will he be fired after the tour. I hope not. I also hope that IE comes to finland at last!
And i wonder if Jon told him to keep an eye on the official website for updates on his career
Bassists never know what they can find there...Or not find (like their name as a band member)

I think it's even less change that they come to Finland now with the new tour-set!

What do you mean? if they come to sweden they could make it to finland also, pretty fucking stupid if they don't...
Oh, and Jon said that they would come to finland, and if he (again) finds something that cancels it, im going to write him a letter and say that he is the most not to be trusted man in the metal scene
just kidding. but i will be VERY disapointed. If they really skip finland and come to sweden i will travel there to see them i guess. But im also going to complain if they skip finland again..

I just watched some vids of him on his myspace. Very promising.

Wait just a question; was D. Hayes fired or did he leave?

He was fired. Hayes learned he was fired by seeing his name removed on the website!
Jon cruelly lacked professionalism and respect, he also never gave any comment about the departure of Hayes

No. But this was extremely cruel because he didn't even say anything to Hayes, Tim got an e-mail at least

I just got the best idea ever when i listened to one of Freddie's band songs.
A duet of God of Thunder with Jon and Freddie would kick so much ass!
