Live From Chicago '04?I'm downloading this Live From Chicago '04 and it's coming with an album cover and backside of the cd... has anyone seen this as a real release to buy? I was going to paste in the set list it shows and a link, but Demonoid is doing maintenance, so that'll hafta wait. It's almost done, so I'll put one up as soon as I get it fixord.

I mean, it looks like it's a retail sold item?

If it's not listed on the Official Iced Earth page than I doubt its not a boot. I am pretty sure its a boot. With certain programs nowadays you can make pro looking cd books and such.

Yeah, I looked on that too... well, it's still a pretty good bootleg. Decent quality.

you can tell its a bootleg, not all the titles are written correctly.

This topic interested me, and because of that, I downloaded it. Definitely a bootleg, though. I now have more faith in the Ripper than I did before. I was never impressed by his live performances because of his fighting/air guitar, and I REALLY wish he would stop that, but other than that, the next Iced Earth concert will be kick ass.

Yeah, I like it... pretty decent quality even though it's kinda low-volume.

I love the version of Dracula and Gettysburg here....

Yeah, they were really great. The whole "album" is a spectacular set. Just kinda wish the quality was that of Alive In Athens, but hey... I guess this was just some random guy recording it.

The Ripper to me just doesn't fit singing Dracula.

Yeah, I'll agree with that. It's different, but kinda... not as great.

Yeah. I would like Ripper more if he had a deeper voice. That's what Iced Earth needs. If/When Ripper leaves Iced Earth, I think Jon should stick to lead vocals as well as Rhythm Guitar. He's got a good voice that fits the band. For example, he sang Stormrider and God Of Thunder.

The Wicked One

Shaffer has range in 1 catagory, demonic sounding badassness.
he can't hit a high note or if he can he couldn't do it often without getting fucking tired or a throat issue.
not to mention the rythims are more complicated and require his full attention ant times. meaning the intricacy in the songs would go down.
I like it when he does backing vocalwork. it all melds together nicley

Beast Of Metal

That's just the thing. People label Iced Earth as a band that HAS to have high pitched voices and screams. Jon would be a good singer. It would be interesting to see how that works out.

The Wicked One

Shaffer has always wanted a halford like singer.
so high pitched is a characteristic of what he has always wanted.
so he would not be happy doing the vocals himself.

Hey guys, I know some of you, but not others.
Here is my insight on this "album".
This is NOT an official release, it is a fan-made audio bootleg of the show recorded at the Metro in Chicago in 2004. The audio was ripped from a DVD recording of this same gig (also fan made, but quite high quality).
The tracklisting is in the correct order, but the song titles are listed wrong in some cases.
This is one of the better bootleg recordings of the 2004 North American leg of the Glorious World Tour. The Vancouver gig from May 14, 2004 from the Commodore Ballroom is quite good as well.
For those of you wondering about the "packaging", there are extremely good and cheep label making programs out there like http://www.memorex.com/labelmaker/
Hope this helps clear up the confusion
