Yeah they were awesome! Everything Phil touches is awesome (Christ Inversion, Down, Superjoint Ritual). Though I think Dime was one of the best guitarists ever, I think he and Vinnie Paul made a mistake with Damageplan, that band was not to good at all. The only thing that made them listenable was Dime and Vinnie, in my opinion. Now Rebel To Rebel kicked all kinds of ass (I am a fan of David Allen Coe anyway).

They are OK, some great songs like Domination and Shattered. But to hear Phil's voice for a whole album, that's too much.

Pantera is overrated.
Its also funny how 90% of its fanbase doesn't remember that it was a glam band and calls stuff like motley crue gay because of the makeup.
Ppl say Pantera saved metal, the us was in a metal decline so we all embrace the cowboys from hell leading to even more confederate flag humping douchebags.
Dimebag while being a guitarist worthy of recognition, immortilized Pantera with his death.
That and due to songs like 'Walk' and Phil's live antics helped the 'hardcore' genre grow.....thank you Pantera, NOT!
I am picky about my vocalists, most of the time i can't stand Phil.
Despite all of this I can't deny that Cemetary Gates is good.

I don't like Spongebob, but if Pantera was in the show......well then it's respect level has been raised.

Hell yes! To people that do not like it, or haven't watched it, you gotta know that it wasn't made just for children, there is a lot of adult references in it, much like older Nicktoons (Rocko, my fav, which Hillenburg worked on, and a lot of the voice actors returned, Ren & Stimpy, Angry Beavers). It even goes so deep as in Stephen Hillenburg was trying to make gay propaganda in Spongebob, but honestly the rumors are just plain incorrect and silly. Still VERY funny though!
Oh, and don't ask me how I know all of this.

I enjoyed Pantera , they were never my favorite band , but they were top 10. Dimebag D was awesome, one of the best guitarists no doubt.

I take offense to this: "confederate flag humping douchebags." as I wave the confederate flag proudly! But I digress. Yes it is true that lots if not most of Pantera's fans don't know the glam era, I was into them back then (as well as other glam bands but my genre of preference at the time was NWOBHM, like Warlord, Grim Reaper (wait were they British?), Iron Maiden, yes I was into them when Killers came out I somehow missed their first album though, and lots of others I can't remember off hand). I think the Pantera glams were late 80's so most of the bands I have listed earlier were before them anyway. Oh well.
It's like fans of Metallica that never heard anything before the black album and refuse to accept that Master Of Puppets is the same Metallica as the black album. Though it can be argued that St Anger is NOT the same Metallica, hehe.
But lots of bands with fans only discovering them in their later albums don't know when they hear it and don't believe that the older stuff is indeed that band. Cradle Of Filth are a big "what the fuck?" to folks who only heard their most recent albums when they hear their older stuff. So yea what you said about the fan base not knowing or remembering the glam stuff is kinda true.
