Purgatory - Horror Show
Demo, Self Released
1986
1. Jack
2. In Jason's Mind
3. Dracula
Their first three demos when they were called Purgatory. The songs Jack and Dracula are totally different songs than the ones that would later be on IE "Horror Show" and the "Horror Show" demo is also not a demo of the Iced Earth album Horror Show, they are totally different entities.
Iced Earth - Enter the Realm
Demo, Self-released
November 1st, 1988
1. Enter The Realm
2. Colors 0
3. Nightmares
4. Curse The Sky
5. Solitude
6. Iced Earth
Iced Earth - Studio Demos '89
Demo, Self-produced
1989
This is actually a collection of demo songs that the band had written over the years and recorded. They were compiled together and used to select the best songs. All of the songs either made it onto the debut album or were later recycled into other songs. Haunted House was later rewritten as Tearing Down The Wall and appears on the first Demons & Wizards album, and Plea Of Insanity later became Jekyll & Hyde on the Horror Show album.
1. Haunted House
2. Written On The Walls
3. Life And Death
4. The Funeral
5. Plea Of Insanity
My question is is it possible to obtain mp3's of these demos (I already have the Purgatoy "Psychotic Dreams" demo on mp3, just need the other two, and the Studio Demos from IE, I have Enter The Realm from the Box Set)? I cant find them anywhere.

Purgatory: Psychotic Dreams (192 kbps)
Demo recorded in 1985 at the Morrisound Studios, Tampa, Florida, USA
Gene Adams - lead vocal
Bill Owens - lead guitar
Jon Schaffer - rhythm guitar
Richard Bateman - bass
Greg Seymour - drums
Total time 8:52
01. Jack
02. In Jason's Mind
01. Jack (3:42)
Music / Lyrics : Jon Schaffer
Out in the streets
Out in the night
Slime oozes from her gutter
Street walkin' bitch
Makin' it rich
Desperate man involved
Take a knife
Take her life
Worthless debutante
Jack is out there
Jack is near
Jack be nimble
Jack brings fear
Jack has blades and axes, too
Jack had blades, I warned you
One more block
And you'll be safe
If you get that lucky
But you don't
You poor thing
His axe is swinging proudly
Jack is out there
Jack is near
Jack be nimble
Jack brings fear
Jack has blades and axes, too
Jack had blades, I warned you
Swing his axe
Twenty whacks
And you're into bite-sized peices
Take his knife
Slice your life
Shreaded prostitution
Jack has won
In Jacks mind
Jack has the resolution
02. In Jason's Mind (5:10)
Music : Jon Schaffer, Bill Owen / Lyrics : Gene Adams
He's the creeper in the night
He's the reaper with a knife
He wears a mask to hide his face
He's always ready for the chase
Killing for the vengeance
Of his mothers death
He's got murder on his breath
Run from the creeper
Hide in the night
His knife is plunging deeper
He's got you wrapped up tight
Creeper in the night
Reaper with a knife
Creeper take your life
Reaper with a killing bite
Down in the lake
He's gaining his strength
His vision is blurred
His mind is obscured
From behind a tree
Or underneath your bed
He's looking for you
He'll cut off your head
Behind his mask
He lies in wait
His mind is obsessed
He's gone insane
only to know the look in his eyes
The pain and the fear
And the tast of spite
Creeper in the night
Reaper with a knife
Creeper take your life
Reaper with a killing bite

good stuff
favorite of the 2 is Jack, the drum pounding is great in this.
We must go on a crusade to find this stuff. and its not like we are breaking any laws. that stuff is most definetly out of print, therefore we can share it without any1 bitching.

Here's the lyrics to Dracula by Gene Adam
The sun is gleaming in
A shadow is cast
A soul lies waiting
Waiting to rise
The father of darkness
is how he is known
In the tomb he lies dormant
Awaiting the night
He lives for the taste of the night
He lives for the final bite
And when he comes calling
It's death at your door
The father of darkness
His soul never rests
He'll make you the undead
Forever his slave
The sun is rising up
He returns to rest
Awaiting his calling
He's calling for you
Flying through windows
He's got you entranced
You won't wake tomorrow
You've taken his mark
He wants to possess you
Your blood is his life
His eyes are gleaming
His teeth like a knife
His princess of darkness
You'll die for his bite
And when he comes calling
It's death at your door
An unliving horror
He sleeps by day
The blood of you fills him
It's what gives him life
A prisoner of the night
He awaits his next bite
On the wings of the darkness
He's flying to you

So no one has the Purgatory Burning Oasis demo or Iced Earth Studio Demos '87 (or is it '89? I didn't look at the first thread again even though I wrote it, I forget things) yet to post? Oh well I know some one some where will have them posted sooner or later.

Yes, in fact there is some one that has the Burning Oasis demo and the studio demo, but I doubt if you will ever find them on the net for downloading.
In fact I have both of them as originlas and so they are on tape.
I have the only exsiting master tape of Burning Oasis. It's recorded with a 4-track in the garage of Richard Bateman's parents. I got this one from him. The demo they released is different then the master tape. They cut out some things.
For the studio demo I got the original tape from Gene Adam from Morrisound.
Only thing is, is that I have to dissappoint you. The band doesn't allow me to put both demos up for downloading. I had to promise that to Richard Bateman and Gene Adam.
I know for sure that it will be hard to find them.
|
Stormrider
|
And I wouldn't want you to break that promise. But there are folks who bought the cassette demos, it's fairly easy to hook up a cassette player (stereo, boombox, whatever) to the computer with the right cords. Anyway anyone with the Burning Oasis demo and Studio Demos? Please upload!
Now back to the Master tape. You say you have the only existing copy, that makes it the rarest of the rare. Kind of like Cradle Of Filth's Goetia demo, it was recorded but never released. It has been said that all the masters have long been destroyed, but some may have survived. No one has yet to find the surviving Goetia demos if indeed they exist. Of course (though I doubt it) someone may have gone the route you did and promised never to copy the demos (the internet I think just started in the early 90's, so I don't think the concept of downloading existed yet, so that couldn't have been a promise for the Goetia demo), if so than I would hope they do as you do and keep that promise.
Like I said though as for the Purg demos they did make it to tapes to the public, someone has got to have them! If the Cradle demo was ever found someone is bound to upload it too.

8 tracks were actually the name of these huge cassette looking things.
Not to mention money and time come into affect here.
Cassettes came after.

dude just because things like cassettes and cds were coming up. doesn't mean they are always available.
You use what you got. Since cassettes were coming out the 8 track recordings would drop in price.
And yes Purgatory was running around in the mid-late 80s.

well the dude (if he/she really is from germany) might have them but is still converting the files from the tapes to the comp. And since it is a myspace, some1 somewhere will file share with the myspace.
Though seeing as how it has the Burning Oasis song, Lobotomy is probably just waiting in the wing to be uplouded

So is Jack and Jason the same recordings as on the other demos? Or are they different recording sessions? I only ask cause I am one of those idiot die hard fans that has to have all the recordings I can get (I prefer buying the real things of course, but stuff like the demos which will no doubt fetch way to high a price on ebay or where ever, I am happy with a cdr or downloaded copy of those songs). I know they are the same songs but just wondering if they are from different sessions.

i have both the Horror Show and Psychotic Dreams demos.
I think out of laziness and the success of those 2 songs they stayed the same and just hich-hiked onto the other demos.
