Question, hope some one here knows the answer!

It's more like a question/observation thing. First, back when Days Of Purgatory was released, they re recorded all the songs on it with Matt, we all know that of course. But the "Burnt Offerings" and "Dantes Inferno" tracks were slightly changed from the originals. "Burnt Offerings" had a different intro and "Dantes Inferno" was remixed. Then Dark Genesis came out and it (along with their other first albums) were remastered, but only sounded better than the originals and not really changed (no different intro and stuff). They were eventually released individually as the remastered versions with the new artwork.
Now Slave To The Dark is coming out with a "Burnt Offerings Alternative Mix" disc included. My question is, is this alt mix the same as the remastered version or is it a totally different thing?
The Wicked One

well the only way to find out is wait for some1 to get it.
Stormrider

I was hoping someone already knew as I believe that alt mix version of the album was already released as a very very limited special edition way back when or something like that. I could be wrong on this though.
The Wicked One

usually its harder to get the original rather than the remaster or remix though.

I have almost every version of Burnt Offerings, as there are:
Regular release Europe first pressing
Regular release Europe second pressing
Remastered Europe
Promo cd Europe
Regular release US
Promo cd US
Regular release MC US
Regular release Japan
Remastered Russia (official release by Fono Records)

I get the Burnt Offerings vinyl pretty soon. I have been looking for that for 5 years and I finally found it. Going to the US next week, so I want to look there for some of the items I'm missing.

Got the Slave to the Dark boxset. Burnt Offerings alternative mix (CD2) is totally different thing. CD1 is the Dark Genesis remastered version. Also it's not the original CD version released in 1995 (which I prefer to the Dark Genesis remaster). Haven't had time to check alternative mix properly yet though.

By the way, the boxset is quite cool. Got the number 4923/5000.
Icedbiker1776

@Dante. No the cover of the Russian remastered is the same as from the other remastered releases. Only the back is slightly different.
Icedbiker1776

Leaving for the US in two hours. Hope to find a few new items there for my collection. See you guys back in three weeks.

Stay Metal!!
Dante

Have a good time!!!
Hope you find what you are looking for!

So I'm guessing that [sinking feeling] the Night Of The Stormrider is the remixed version, not the original with talking near the start of Before The Vision. I wish when record companies remaster albums, they wouldn't remove things from the songs. Fine to add stuff that was removed by the record company in the first place, but to remove stuff as integral as the speech during that song is just not on. Hopefully they used the original cover so it is.

If it isn't do let me know soon as i'm not shelling out £80 for a delicious box set of albums that are inferior to the originals.

I just ordered the set, finally! So I hadn't heard it yet, but I hear the Stormrider disc is also the remix from Dark Genesis, so that would mean no speech again. I could be wrong, I will have to wait a week or two for the set to come in to find out. I doubt since I just ordered it today (The 4th of July) that even though it was a regular joe on Ebay, he or she won't be able to send it out til Monday at the earliest. Thank hell I have the original with speech and all!
TheVileMessiah

I have the alternative mixes, their fantastic
Schulle

@ IcedBiker1776
