Tribute to the Gods 2?

Well, i know that all of us loved TTTG CD (anyways, who didn't deserves to die  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad ), i think could be a pretty cool idea to put the songs that we love to hear on Iced Earth/Matt Barlow's voice for a cover.

Here's my list:

TV Crimes               - Black Sabbath (DIO)
Heaven & Hell        - Black Sabbath
Battery                   - Metallica
Disposible Heroes  -    ''
Sad but True          -    ''
No Remorse           -    ''
Unforgiven             -    ''
Ashes to ashes      - Faith no More
All guns blazing      - Judas Priest

...and i have no more in my memo right now...and yeah, i love Metallica too xD

Well, post your songs here people! When i got one i'll do too Razz
The Wicked One

well there were a couple songs Jon wanted to do that he mentioned before in the manual of the cd so those would be on there.

if anything id want to hear them make a studio version of detroit rock city
Sandra - Dark Saga -

Don't tread on me by Metallica!
Matthew loves that song!

And for me... I'd love The Clairvoyant by Iron Maiden
Shorty

This wouldn't work, because of the bass
No one can play the bass like Steve Harris \m/
Dante

Painkiller would be cool!
Alison Hell by Annihilator!
Fear of the Dark? Always a classic...
Flight of Icarus, I love that song!
The Trooper... They have already done this live.
Shorty

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner and Alexander The Great would be great!
Or The Oath, Blood Of My Enemys, I Believe and Hail And Kill from Manowar, but I am sure that they will never do Manowar songs, Jon hates songs about "Warriors of Metal, who slaughter every wimp and poser, and who don't have friend which are not into metal"  Mr. Green

Yeah Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Alexander The Great would be... Great Wink
Stormrider

Yea studio versions of The Trooper and Detroit Rock City would rock. Maybe they can cover some Helloween songs like say Ride The Sky or Phantoms Of Death or even the classic Hello-ballad A Tale That Wasn't Right. Dr. Stein or Rise And Fall would be fun covers for them. Maybe even stray from metal and cover some Beatles, or Stones or the Who or something like that.

UGH!!! I HATE their "Don't Tread On Me". The singing is just wretched in my view... however the guitaring is awesome and the music contains AMAZING melody and decent harmony plus obvious rythem rhythm and equally awesome timbre the music itself is, by the very definition of music, awesome.

I would still rather see something like the Unforgiven because Barlow would do SOOOOOOO much better with those lyrics than Hetfeild. The song is supposed to have a kind of sad feel to it (or at least to me it sounds like it is) and Barlow is very good at sounding sad without sounding whiny (to be fair I'm not a big fan of Hetfield much or anybody elese who tries to mimic his singing (something WAY too common in these "alternative rock"* bands today))

*Question... How can you call the current most popular genre of Rock, "Alternative". Its an oxyMORON (that is a general question not directed at anybody on this forum)
the one true seeker

Anything from Maiden would be cool.

Don't talk to strangers by Dio. ( Blind Guardian has covered this.)

Black stone wielder by Candlemass.

Any Savatage song would also sound good.
The Wicked One

gah whats with this black album stuff?

Id say Creeping Death, Blackened, ONE, FADE TO BLACK, Leper Messiah would be great, if we want Metallica covers.
KupoBarlow

haha yeah, Matt should fit PERFECT singing all Metallica Stuff, i'm pretty sure of that.

I think that "For Whom the Bell tolls" would sounds fucking BRUTAL with Matt on vocals.

"Dyers eve" (one of my top 5 Metallica's fav) could be FANTASTIC.

This would be cool!
"Demons And Maidens"  Laughing
The Sexiest Metalhead

I wish the would do another TTTG cd...

"Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden would be cool...

"Victum of Changes" by Judas Priest would be awesome with Barlow on vocals...
Tainted Innocence

i think wrathchild by iron maiden would be better then run to the hills.
or dream of mirrors.

Wrathchild would be cool... but I'm not sure about the Dream of Mirrors. Never really liked that song though... so...  Laughing
The Wicked One

The Wicker Man would be good too.
Dante

And the "The Evil that men Do"!
Love is a razor and i walked the line of that of a silver blade!!!
Black_Sheep

Nice idea. But it's probably not going to happen.. at least not in the near future. What was this talk about The Trooper and Detroit Rock City studio versions? i didn't know there were live versions (?) where can i hear them?

And I'm pretty sure that I had a version of The Trooper live with Barlow but it's lost now Sad

It would be very nice. But, would it even happen?
The Wicked One

well apparently IT HAS happened but Dante and his bumbleing computer have lost it in Oblivion
Dante

I can find a lot Demons and Wizards The Trooper live...
And all of them are titled Iced Earth - The Trooper live.
But i can't find any with Matt on vocals!
The Wicked One

then it just means ppl just want to annoy us with the fact that D&W did a cover and thats it.
Dante

Ahh I just got an interesting idea!
What about Breaking the Law (Judas Priest) with Jon on vocals!
It would sound so good with Jons growl!
