*Note: I have it setup so you can vote for the best, and the worst! And when I mean worst, just not that great, still good song though Razz*

The Something Wicked Trilogy rerecorded for the Overture of the Wicked album...what are your opinions? Personally, I think it was a hit and miss. The beginning half of the Prophecy is just a kick ass, while the ending just got smacked down. Birth of the Wicked sounds the same, but the stretched out vocals of Tim just make it horrible IMO.

You get the point, cool stuff, but I don't like it. Now, to The Coming Curse. We have the intro cut out (Anybody know why it was? I never found out *sad face*) then the "electronic" feel of the guitar sorta say, I'm not a musician so I might be out of my mind but it sounds like nothing compared to the original one. The original sounds more "heavy and real" if that makes sense. I do like the new rift at 3:18. The new chants at 4:26 are awesome, but you can barely hear the guitar, so eh. Ripper screaming after that is just awesome, so the rest of the song is ok.

Get to it! Oh, feel free to discuss Ten Thousand Strong to the new one (Part 1).

I give Ripper credit for trying to do his own thing. I also give Jon credit for trying to re-do the songs with some new riffs and solos.

But I still don't like them. They're mediocre, at best.

I think that The Coming Curse is the best Tim redone!

Prophecy and Coming Curse were good but redone that gave off a different feeling that we had with the 1st version.

So they don't deserve a bad rating.

Birth of the Wicked on the other hand just got to me.

I can't disagree MORE xD, i think TCC on OOTW sucks monkey balls, IN A FUCKIN' BIG WAY.

And btw, i can't hold more than 2 minutes hearing those versions f Something Wicked trilogy, really that shit sucks HARDLY.

The unike thing that i can enjoy is the drums, fuckin' Brent Smedley KICK ASS!  Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil

I didn't say it was good, I just said that it didn't suck as much as the others! Wink
I respect that you hate it though!

The Coming Curse is terrible on "Overture of the Wicked" in my eyes. I haven't touched the disc in ages, and the butchering that occured on TCC has to be a sin of some kind!

I hated the "Tim-era" version of that song with a passion... But in all honesty, the re-vamped trilogy just sucked in general.

The Whole rerecorded trilogy sucked. All the intensity was removed for palm muted garbage. I don't even mind Timporary Owens. It's Schaffer that screwed it up by making the guitar and drums all "machine gun" like. That sounds cool and all, but doesn't compare to the awesome riffs of the original. The only cool part about the rerecorded trilogy is the beginning of Prophecy, but it all goes downhill after that.

Imho even worse than Tim's vocals where the redone instruments... using baritone guitars is all fine with me but it doesn't fit to the trilogy - not the way Jon did it. It's all too low and sounds muddy... all the aggressiveness is gone
